Flora Lemmens is an interdisciplinary artist from Sittard, a small village in the south of the Netherlands. She studies at Maastricht Institute of Arts and is known for her innovative and thought-provoking work.
Flora's work explores the relationship between perception, the mind and reality, aiming to create a sense of disconnection and detachment.
Praised for its emotionally resonant nature, her work has been exhibited in places such as De Meldkamer, Bonnefanten, Liberation Festival Roermond, Musica Sacra Festival, Noorderlicht Photo Festival, Theater aan het Vrijthof and De Domijnen. In 2018 Flora won a CINEKID Media Award for her work.

I hate pigeons
In I HATE PIGEONS reflecteert Jeroen op de vanzelfsprekendheid van het medium fotografie en de kwetsbaarheid van de fotograaf.
Door middel van beeldmanipulatie creëert hij parodieën van iconische beelden en laat hij de ironische kant van de “The Nature of Photography” zien, aangezien die ook imperfect is.
De meest perfecte foto kan nog verpest worden door een duif, een risico wat met de komst van A.I. dreigt te verdwijnen. I HATE PIGEONS is een hommage aan de ‘The happy little accidents’ en ode aan alle iconische foto’s die niet zijn gelukt.

Jeroen Bronckers is een fotograaf, filmmaker en collagekunstenaar.
Vanuit een absurdistische bril kijkt hij naar mens en maatschappij;
aan de ene kant als iets wat kapot is en waarvan je de scheuren altijd zal blijven zien en aan de andere kant als een existentiële schoonheid die zich ogenschijnlijk walsend voortbewegen door tijd en ruimte.
Meta Nature
We are exploring the metaworld and its vast connection sets that establish a new language, media, and visual perception field.
The Meta Scapes project breaks with the authoritative reality of classic camera photography to question what reality truly is. The project produces photographs from the gaming world, thematizing it as a metaworld in different contexts.
Here is the theme, Meta Nature, showcases the virtual space's natural characteristics. Scenes are revealing micro-scale details and the nature of the metaworld between real and virtual.
Ozan Yavuz
Ozan Yavuz is a lecturer on Basic and Advanced Digital Photography at the Middle East Technical University, Department of Music and Fine Arts.
He received his Ph.D. in Art from the Yıldız Technical University for research the relation between historical metafiction, photography, migration and autoethnography within his personal history. He works in the area of visual anthropology, gaming photography and personal documentary.
His book titled "Anthropology and Photography: On Method and Representation" was published in Espas Sanat ve Kuram Publishing in 2020.
Yavuz also had two major solo exhibitions; ‘Workers’ in Patti and Rusty Rueff Galleries in Purdue, Indiana/USA (2016); and ‘Lily and Wild Pear’ in Halka Art Project, Istanbul/TURKEY (2019).

Raak me aan” is een onderzoek naar de sociale functie van de huid, kijkende naar het lichaam van de man. Hoe ervaren wij een aanraking van een ander en hoe communiceren we met ons zintuig tast?
Het project onderzoekt toxische masculiniteit en homo-erotische kunst. In “raak me aan” worden aanrakingen omgezet naar geluid, waardoor tast hoorbaar wordt. De bezoeker wordt uitgenodigd om een onderzoek aan te gaan door het werk te voelen.
In "raak me aan" is kijken met de handjes wat het werk compleet maakt.
Clim Stoopen
Clim Stoopen doet onderzoek naar het doen, denken en zijn van de mens, waarbinnen queerness, seks en het lichaam belangrijke vertrekpunten zijn. Door middel van experimenteel onderzoek, waarbinnen ik me laat inspireren door de biologie, proberen ik de grenzen van fotografie te vervagen en streef ik naar een immersieve ervaring.
Met mijn werk wil ik de toeschouwer aansporen om vanuit een onderzoekende houding bewustzijn te creëren naar ons gebruik van zijn. Is de wereld om ons heen goed zoals die nu is, of moeten we onze ogen blijven openhouden voor de (on)zichtbare problemen rondom de acceptatie van genderfluïditeit in ons alledaags leven?
Graduated 2005 at art school in Utrecht, Diewke always has worked in photography. The last 5 years her work is flourishing and developing in a strong poetic handwriting. Always working on the relation people have with their environment, how do we relate to nature.
Diewke just had a solo at TAC (Eindhoven, Netherlands), published a book; Melting Heart and is researching to deepen the project with other artists in different fields of art.

Diewke also is a mother of a son, he has also been a favorite muse in her series and still is. Now he is growing into puberty and she gives him an opportunity to figure out how to be just yourself.
In her work she also actively works on her bias, really thinking about who, what and why she portrays people and places.

Als AI is getraind om menselijke intelligentie na te bootsen, wat zegt dat dan over onze samenleving?
Discriminatie en vooroordelen zijn geworteld in AI.
AI zit vol vooroordelen en raciale besluitvorming. Het is zorgwekkend dat AI soms in verband wordt gebracht met racisme en zelfs kan worden gebruikt om racisme te versterken. Een alarmerend voorbeeld hiervan is dat krediet kan worden geweigerd op basis van het vermogen van AI om iemands etniciteit af te leiden uit een kleine hoeveelheid informatie.
Ook zijn er AI-tools die bij het zoeken naar een crimineel een zwarte persoon weergeven. AI is niet in staat om een bruine huid als persoon te detecteren, maar wel een persoon met een wit masker op.
Bovendien zijn er gevallen bekend waarbij zwarte mensen verschijnen als je zoekt naar geweld.
De tekst op de afbeeldingen is gebaseerd op gevallen van discriminatie door AI. De portretten zijn niet bestaande mensen gemaakt met een AI-tool.
Charmaine de Heij, heeft een Surinaamse en Nederlandse afkomst. In haar werk vindt ze het cruciaal om de ervaringen van mensen van kleur weer te geven, in tastbare visuele weergaven. Door middel van haar fotografische werk wil ze haar culturele achtergrond representeren, door bijvoorbeeld te werken met het thema kolonialisme.
De ervaringen van mensen van kleuren worden door een breed scala aan onderwerpen besproken: van racisme, tot Black Hair en systemen van onderdrukking.
Haar fotografie is in de vorm van portretten en stillevens. Hiernaast maakt Charmaine ook regelmatig gebruik van archieven. Door middel van collages geeft ze historische foto’s een nieuwe betekenis. Deze methode zet zij ook in om het archief te dekoloniseren.
Chiara Catalini is a Rotterdam-based photographer and designer with a primary interest in exploring the world of "things".
She defines "things" according to writer Remo Bodei as entities to which we attribute emotional and social values, which we care about, making them more than mere functional objects.
Chiara believes that our relationships with things give consistency to our identity, which led her to pursue a Master's degree and gain experience in Product Design and Interior Architecture.

Through her photography, she captures things in their essence and seeks to explore the cultural and social values they represent, unfolding their individual meaning in people's lives.

Looking Beyond Dutch Windows
Looking Beyond Dutch Windows” is a study of the secrets hidden beyond the frames of everyday windows. A window frames a snippet of someone’s life, but it also poses the question of what that frame excludes.
With the help of an AI model which she coded and trained herself, the artist aims to explore the infinite possibilities of what could be lurking just beyond our line of sight. The text displayed behind the AI generated images are the prompts which were given to the AI to create the patches which form the complete image.
By peering through these virtual windows, viewers are invited on a journey of discovery, one that challenges them to consider the mysteries of what lies just out of view.

Lena Steinbauer is an Austrian Artist who studies Crossmedia Design at the ArtEZ University of Arts.
Her practice revolves around storytelling through image-based media.
Through her work, she hopes to tell stories that resonate with the viewer.
Whether it is a candid moment or a carefully staged scene, she is always looking for the emotion that lies beneath the surface and the story that is yet to be told.

Keiko B Goto was born in Nagano, Japan.
Ever since her childhood, she has been immersed in her own reflection, while she devoted herself to music and literature.
She spent her formative years as an editor at a publishing company in Tokyo.
Inspired by many foreign film-makers and artists, she moved to Europe, to attend graduate at Istituto Italiano di Fotografia, a professional photography school in Milan, Italy, located in Superstudio.
Keiko B Goto
As time went on, she shifted to focusing on her artistic vision. In reaction to Covid-19, and she energetically produced the "Crossing Series". These works are based on multiple exposures. She developed her signature technique whereby images overlap, with creative storytelling and cinematic impact. This series is based on her past experiences as an artist and her visions of possible futures for the world we live in.
She has worked and exhibited in Italy and in The Netherlands and earned several award nominations.
Quattro Ogen is a coined name, composed of Italian and Dutch. It means four eyes.

Impaired Vision
In the project Impaired Vision Sobel asks how it is to adopt to the daily routines against impaired perception? Werner, Lars, Ines, Liane and Gabriele shows their aid devices with which they are able to navigate and communicate on daily basis.
The project deals with the perception of people who are becoming or were born blind. Some of them have no perception of images, they do precept the environment which is in their range of touch. The devices became an artificial limb for adoption for navigation and for daily routines.
Artist ask the blind person to visualize the map of the city they live in - Karlsruhe. The project consist of portraits, images of the objects & mental maps draw by blind people. The map verbalize the districts the people know, their everyday way as well as the landmarks of the city.
Karolina Sobel
Karolina Sobel (*1987 born in Poland, lives and works in Karlsruhe, DE) graduated from the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe in 2019. She earned a master's degree in urban studies (TU Darmstadt), studied social sciences at EHESS in Paris and visual arts at IUAV in Venice. In 2020 she was a fellow of the Kunststiftung Baden Württemberg.
Currently she is an academic associate for artistic photography. Her interests include modes of representation of social issues such as identity formation, the process of building communities, social exclusion and hierarchies. For her work, she seeks different modes of representation that allow her narrative to expand on the level of multiple discourses.
She uses different media with a documentary approach that blurs the line between fiction and reality. In her practice she treats photography as the tools for visual research.
Als de dag gaat
In de serie ‘Als de dag gaat (2023)’ wordt de mysterieuze sfeer van de schemering gevangen. De schemering is de overgang van dag naar nacht, waarin de wereld van helder rationeel denken plaatsmaakt voor dromerigheid.
Het is een moment waar bewustzijn langzaam overgaat in onderbewustzijn. Met het zachte oplossen van het daglicht, lost ook de helderheid van gedachtes en herinneringen aan de dag op.
In de blauwe gloed van het landschap vervagen de onderwerpen steeds meer. Wat zal er overblijven? En wat wordt achtergelaten?
Janneke Veerman
Janneke Veerman is beeldend kunstenaar die werkt met het medium fotografie. In haar fotografie legt ze verstilde momenten vast of zoomt ze in op onderwerpen die niet direct opvallen.
Door de nadruk te leggen op het stille, gebruikt ze haar fotografie als middel om uit de hectiek van het dagelijkse leven te ontsnappen en op zoek te gaan naar haar eigen vluchtwerelden. In die werelden legt ze poëtische sferen vast welke vaak een innerlijk gevoel weerspiegelen.
Haar werk is een antwoord op de gehaastheid van alledag waarin snelle informatiestromen ons voortdurend toekomen, er een continu streven is naar technologische vooruitgang en er een grote druk is om alsmaar te moeten presteren.
